Mill Spring, NC - May 30, 2024 - Jad Dana (LBN) and Itchcock Des Dames (Marius Claudius x Calvaro F.c.) stopped the clock in a time of 32.62 seconds on Thursday in Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort’s Tryon Stadium to claim a win in the $32,000 ProElite Welcome Stake CSI 3*. Brittini Raflowitz (ISR) and Anibale De Hus (Conrad x Argentinus), the 2010 Selle Français stallion owned by Bellwyn Farm LLC, broke the beam in a time of 33.58 seconds to earn reserve place, while third place honors went to Kristen VanderVeen (USA) and Bull Run's Jireh (Uriko x Colman),  2014 Holsteiner gelding, stopping the clock in 33.7 seconds for Bull Run Jumpers Inc.

Thirty-six entrants contested the Ivan Tagle (ARG) first round, with twelve pairs qualifying for the chance to dash for cash in the jump off. Dana and the 2014 Belgian Sport Horse gelding owned by the Itchy Group completed the jump off in 32.62 seconds.

Dana walked into the ring knowing they had to beat 33.58 seconds, which he and his horse proceeded to do with room to spare. But, he revealed, the partnership is still a new one, despite their apparent ease with each other in the ring:

“[Itchcock Des Dames] is a new horse for me, I actually haven't done many jump offs with him. I was last to go, and there's not much to lose. I just gave it everything I could,” Dana explained.

A familiar face at the venue, Dana and his string enjoyed clear rounds throughout the day, he noted. “Today was a good day for me, with both my horses Caro W and Itchcock both jumped clear. I thought that [the course] rode nicely,” Dana said of the course design.

Dana concluded that Itchcock is a mount to keep an eye on going forward, and that he intends to be in the winner’s circle as much as possible throughout the upcoming season. “I hope that we'll continue to grow as a partnership. I have big hopes for him, and I hope we can take it to the next level.”
