In Memory: Jim Ksenich
Team Tryon lost one of its own on August 3, 2024, when Security and Guest Services member Jim Ksenich unexpectedly passed away. A longtime friendly face on the security team, Jim never met a stranger, and loved helping people.
Spotlight: Holli Adams Reflects on 10 Years at Tryon International
Holli Adams is a seasoned professional whose lifelong passion for horses has driven her to achieve remarkable success. Holli's dedication to her students and talent have led her to excel in the highest events at the national level and gain the ability to share her knowledge with her students. Spotlight: Jessica and Doug Payne Reflect on 10 Years at Tryon International
As Tryon International celebrates its tenth anniversary, we're spotlighting riders who have been with us since the beginning in 2014. Jessica and Doug Payne, owners of Payne Equestrian, a training facility in Rougemont, North Carolina, are among these long-time participants. Spotlight: Lauren Bergrud Reflects on Ten Years at Tryon International
In recognition of Tryon International’s Ten Year anniversary, we are spotlighting some of our loyal competitors who have been visiting the venue since 2014. Lauren Bergrud is a local show jumper, eventer, avid motorcyclist and world traveler who has been competing at Tryon International since its earliest days. Specializing in young horse development, Bergrud can often be found preparing the next generation of equine talent for their future careers. In recognition of Tryon International’s Ten Year Anniversary Celebration presented by Camp Electric Co., hosted July 6th as part of Saturday Night Lights presented by Stuller Power Solutions, we are spotlighting some of our loyal competitors who have been visiting the venue since 2014. Kelly Kocher, trainer, coach, and rider, has lived in the Tryon area for 27 years. He has come to Tryon International since the very first show in 2014 as both rider and trainer, competing and coaching up to the Grand Prix level. We had the chance to speak with Kelly Kocher about his experiences at Tryon International throughout the past decade. Read below to learn more about his favorite TIEC memories and more!
Spotlight: Fernando Cardenas Reflects on Ten Years at Tryon International
In recognition of Tryon International’s Ten Year Anniversary Celebration presented by Camp Electric Co., hosted July 6th as part of Saturday Night Lights presented by Stuller Power Solutions, we are spotlighting some of our loyal competitors who have been visiting the venue since 2014. One such rider is Fernando Cardenas, the owner of 3H Sporthorses, 3H Equine Hospital, and Mobile Veterinary Services. Fernando immigrated to the US from Colombia in 1987 and has lived in North Carolina since then. He has been coming to Tryon since its opening in 2014 and competed here in the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018. Fernando is always a crowd favorite whenever he enters the arena. Ten Years of Horse Shows at Tryon International

Young Horse Finals Spotlight: ASF Air Attack
The Young Horse Show Finals hosted at Tryon International will see horses, owners, breeders, and exhibitors from all across the country, some crossing several states to compete in this prestigious event. One of these exhibitors is Addie Malinski, hailing from Penrose, Colorado. Malinski is traveling to the Young Horse Show Finals to compete with her AWSSR stallion, ASF Air Attack, also known as “Aries”. Aries has grown in internet popularity with his charming personality and striking pinto markings, building a community of over 2,000 horse-loving followers on his Facebook page.
A Girls’ Getaway for Horse Lovers

Team Tryon Spotlight: Natalie Suto
As Tryon International’s Official Photographer for all Hunter/Jumper shows at the venue, Natalie Suto can be seen all across the showgrounds photographing competitors in the show ring and capturing unique behind-the-scenes moments. Natalie began taking photos at Tryon International in 2021, and employs a talented team of photographers to capture equestrian athletes’ photos and all their favorite moments. We sat down with Natalie to learn more about her journey as a young entrepreneur, her history with Tryon International, and how she got started in photography.
Hobby Horse Spotlight: Teddy
Teddy has been one of Tryon International’s trusty hobby horses since the very start of the North American Hobby Horse Series™, participating in every single event Saturdays in July and October. As the official “catch ride” stick horse of the American Hobby Horse Series presented by Young Rider, Teddy is ready to step in should a competitor need to borrow a hobby horse. He can be distinguished by his bright blue bridle, white blaze, chestnut body and brown mane. Teddy was kind enough to allow an interview between his busy training schedule.
Road to Pony Finals Spotlight: Genevieve Long
Genevieve "Gigi" Long, of Greenville, SC, is qualified for USEF Pony Finals and will compete with Home Run Bound at the prestigious event in August. This will be Gigi’s first trip to Pony Finals, and is under the guidance of Gisele Beardsley O'Grady at Clearview Farm in Landrum, SC.
