Mill Spring, NC – July 25, 2023 – Under the lights of Tryon Stadium, Sean Jobin (CAN) and Coquelicot VH Heuvelland Z claimed their fourth Grand Prix podium finish in a row, winning the $146,000 St. Luke’s Hospital Grand Prix CSI 3*. Jobin stopped jump off timers at 34.22 seconds, besting a field of twenty-four competitors. Taking second with a time of 36.44 seconds was Roberto Teran Tafur (COL) aboard his own 2012 German Sporthorse mare, DSP Callas (Casskeni II x Levistano). Caitlyn Connors (USA) marked a time of 37.19 seconds to earn third place honors with Falcon de Hus Z (Florian de la Vie*Bazooka x Adlantus AS), the 2009 Zangersheide gelding owned by Caitlyn Connors LLC. Jobin was the last of nine clear rounds presented by Stuller Power Solutions to qualify for the jump off.

Saturday night’s win continues a series of podium appearances for Jobin and the 2012 Zangersheide stallion, also known as “Licot”. “He just won the 3* Grand Prix in Ocala. This [win] is his fourth podium placing in a row in a Grand Prix. We won the 3*, and then he was third in the 3* the week after, and then he was third in the 2* last week,” Jobin recapped. “He is absolutely on a roll right now.”

Jobin explained the key to keeping his mount so consistent. “We just try to treat him like a king. He's pretty low maintenance, but ninety-nine percent of the work is just making sure he's happy, he's comfortable, and he's feeling loved. We make sure he's always going out for his walks and he's always getting out. He's got his own kind of program. He loves jumping, and so we try to keep it simple.”

As the ninth and final rider in the jump off, Jobin had the chance to analyze the course designed by Ken Krome (USA). “I went last, so I had a chance to watch everybody,” the Canadian rider detailed. “Licot is quick, but he has a short step. Originally, I was thinking I might do eight strides to the five, but I saw everyone was doing seven. I thought if we're going to have a chance, we had to be risky there and go for it. [Licot] got really long, but he tried super hard, and I felt the love there, which was awesome! After that, I just tried to keep the ball rolling.”

As a frequent competitor at Tryon, Jobin has been enjoying much success in the final weeks of the Tryon Summer Series. “I’ve been coming here for forever, and I did my first 3* Grand Prix here,” he shared. “I’ve always loved it, it’s awesome. The mountains are so beautiful, the footing is great, and the atmosphere is always awesome here too. It feels very comfortable here.”

Eszter Horvath was presented the Groom’s Award presented by Ego 7, the number one brand and performance leader for equestrian sports, for her care and dedication to Coquelicot VH Heuvelland Z, alongside Tryon International’s Drew Page.

“Thanks to the team, thanks to Foxridge, and thanks Kathy Dixon for being a fantastic owner. Eszter [Horvath] is doing an awesome job, and of course Licot – he’s been the number one star,” Jobin concluded.
