Mill Spring, NC – June 6, 2024 – Samuel Parot (CHI) and his own David Guetta (Zento x Vigaro) were victors in the $32,000 ProElite Welcome Stake CSI 3*, stopping the jump off timers in 29.87 seconds for the win. Jad Dana (LBN) rode Caro W (Castelan II x Aragorn), the 2012 Holsteiner gelding owned by Peter Howard & Laure Sudreau, to reserve honors on a time of 30.03 seconds, while third place went to Amanda Derbyshire (GBR) and Otto BH (Norton D’ Eole x Toulon), the 2012 Zangersheide stallion, for their 30.14 second-performance.

Parot and David Guetta were one of 29 entries to challenge the Oscar Soberon (USA) course design, and one of six horse-and-rider pairs to qualify for the jump-off test.

“He’s very careful and fast,” Parot said of the 2008 Dutch Warmblood gelding, his partner for the past year.

In a competitive field with six returning to the jump off, Parot observed that there was little difference in the Welcome’s top rides. “I turned very fast to jump number two. For me, I think jumps two and nine made the difference,” he acknowledged.

David Guetta, along with barn mate Chrystal Blue, will make an appearance in Saturday’s $120,000 Two Trees Distilling Co. Grand Prix CSI3*. “I will jump the Grand Prix with him,” Parot shared. “This is the same Grand Prix Chrystal Blue won last year, so I’m hoping for the same thing!”

June 5, 2024 – The $32,000 Two Phase CSI 3* Wednesday resulted in three double-clear rounds for Amanda Derbyshire (GBR): aboard Otto BH, the 2012 Zangersheide stallion, Derbyshire took the win in a speed phase time of 34.09 seconds. Otto BH (Norton D'eole x D-armel Van't Kamerveld), the 2012 Zangersheide stallion owned by Derbyshire, has had his fair share of successes in the Tryon Spring Series in addition to his Two Phase win. “He's a fast horse”, she said of her partner. “It was a perfect course with a lot of gallops. He's naturally very fast and careful, so it made it a little easier.”

Derbyshire noted that the Two Phase track suited Otto’s speed and accuracy on course. “There were a lot of fast riders, and I am lucky enough to have some nice horses and a great team around me right now – it makes things easy,” she revealed.

With Wednesday’s win, Derbyshire and Otto BH broke their streak of second place finishes. “I'm glad I got out of “second mode” today!” Derbyshire shared. “I've had four seconds in a row with Otto, so today’s win was nice to get out of that.”

According to Derbyshire, maintaining the stallion’s self-assurance is key to the team’s success. “We keep up his confidence. I pick the right classes from and never over-faze him. He's a careful horse, and it took a long time for me to get his trust. We pick and choose the right classes from, and don't do too much. He always puts it out there when I ask him to,” she shared.

To close out the Tryon Spring Series presented by Main Street Insurance, Derbyshire plans to take both Otto BH and Cornwall BH into Saturday’s $120,000 Two Trees Distilling CSI3* Grand Prix, and looks forward to returning to compete at the upcoming Summer Series presented by The Farm House.
