August at Tryon International

Tryon International is full of activities for equestrians and non-equestrians throughout the summer ahead of a jam-packed fall series. August will host numerous equestrian events like the Tryon Summer Finale, Summer Dressage 3 & 4, USEF/EVUSA National Vaulting Championships, and schooling opportunities at the Earl Scruggs Music Festival. Beyond the show ring, guests can enjoy plenty of non-equestrian events, too, including Spartan Race Weekend and the inaugural Tryon International Disc Golf Classic. Preview all August events below.

Spartan Race: August 3-4, 2024

The Spartan Race will include Spartan Super, Sprint, and Kids Races all over the trails and fields at Tryon International. These races will consist of various obstacles, from water and mud to monkey bars and barbed wire. The Spartan Super is a 10k race including 25 obstacles and is the true test of strength, endurance, and speed. The Spartan Sprint is a 5k race that includes 20 obstacles. The Kids race will include 10-20 obstacles over a 1-3 km trail. To learn more about the Spartan Race, click here

Tryon Summer Finale: August 9-11, 2024

The 2024 Hunter/Jumper Tryon Summer Series presented by The Farm House concludes with the Tryon Summer Finale on August 9th-11th. Over the three days of competition, the week will showcase Hunter, Jumper, and Equitation competition with featured classes including a Welcome Stake, Jumper Stake and Hunter Derby. Tryon Summer Dressage 3 & 4: August 10-11,2024

Dressage is back at Tryon International for the fourth time this year with the Tryon Summer Dressage 3 & 4 weekend. These two days of national competition are completely FREE for spectating. USEF/EVUSA Vaulting National Championships: August 9-11, 2024

Vaulting, described as gymnastics on horseback, is here at Tryon International on August 9-11! Enjoy the USEF/EVUSA National competition in the Indoor Complex for free. Vaulting exhibits the ultimate bond between horse and athlete along with skillful and precise acrobatic movements. There will be Individual, Pas de Deux (Pairs), and Squad (Team) divisions throughout the competition. NOTE: For the safety of our horses and athletes, please refrain from moving to/from seats while a horse is in the arena; and absolutely no flash photography. Tryon International Disc Golf Classic: August 17-18, 2024

The inaugural Tryon International Disc Golf Classic Tournament presented by Innova Disc Golf and Disc Golf United will take place August 17-18. There are three courses for two separate pools this August. The Lake course will have 27 holes for the MPO, MP40, MP50, MA1, and MA40 divisions. The Arena and Hill Courses are for all other divisions and will have 18 holes. The Lake Course will follow the White Oak Cross-Country Course at Tryon International, and the Arena Course will follow the Tryon International arenas and barns. The Hills course will be located behind the barns and around the hills of Tryon International. These courses are temporary and will be open for practice the week before the tournament. 

Schooling at Earl Scruggs Music Festival: August 30-31, 2024

Tryon Stadium will be open for schooling throughout the Earl Scruggs Music Festival on August 30-31st from 12-2pm. There will be Hunter and Jumper jumps included each day, providing a fabulous opportunity to practice in a high-atmosphere environment before the start of the Tryon Fall Series! The Cleghorn Club is home to a gorgeous 18-hole golf course that the PGA recognizes as one of the best courses in North Carolina. The golf course is a George Cobb design with excellent playing conditions, giving everyone an enjoyable experience. Don’t miss the newly-unveiled, all-weather driving range as well as the pool and onsite restaurant, Mulligans! The sporting clays course resides at the nearby Cleghorn Gun Club. The course has 15 stations equipped with The Long-Range Target Management System. The course is friendly for any level and allows various patterns, target options, and combinations.
