Tryon Cares presented by iHeartMedia Donates More Than $4,000 to Nonprofits at Tryon International’s Saturday Night Lights

Portion of Parking Fees Benefit Eight Nonprofits so far in 2024

For Immediate Release

Mill Spring, NC - August 9, 2024 - As a part of the Tryon Cares initiative of Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International), presented by iHeartMedia, a portion of the proceeds from parking fees at each spring and summer 2024 edition of Saturday Night Lights presented by Stuller Power Solutions were donated to a nonprofit organization. As a result, $4,332 dollars have been donated to local and equestrian nonprofit organizations, including:

St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation
Foothills Humane Society
CooperRiis
PacJAM
PacJAM Hendersonville
H.O.O.V.E.S.
Total Ministries
Safelight

“We are so grateful that Tryon International selected us to be one of the participating nonprofits. In addition to the funds received from the parking fee, we had an opportunity to bring dogs available for adoption, which led to many of them finding their forever homes,” said Foothills Humane Society President Carol Parker. “We are fortunate to have a facility like this that continually partners with us to help the dogs and cats of our community.”

In order to support the rising production cost of organizing and hosting Saturday Night Lights, the family-friendly and wildly popular community events that feature free live music, carousel and pony rides, entertainment, kids activities, and more alongside world-class show jumping competition in Tryon Stadium, organizers at Tryon International Equestrian Center implemented a parking fee per vehicle in 2023. The goal: to help ensure that the event itself remained free for all attendees.

“We saw an opportunity to highlight and promote local, regional and national nonprofits with a donation for each parking fee paid at a Saturday Night Lights event,” Tryon International’s Director of Business Development Lynn Penny said. “Many nonprofits also choose to host booths in the Legends Plaza during the event to showcase their organization, receive additional donations, or further their cause, and we are thrilled to provide that kind of exposure.”

Amanda Held, Executive Director of H.O.O.V.E.S., Healing of Our Veterans Equine Services, said: “Tryon International's non-profit parking give-back initiative in July was an incredible success, providing invaluable support for veterans at HOOVES, and fully funded one veteran's 'Healing Intensive' experience. Their dedication and the community's generosity have made a meaningful impact on our mission to aid veterans through equine-assisted services.”

Tryon Cares has donated over $20,000 to nonprofit organizations since its inception at Winterfest in 2022, and additional donations will be made throughout the 2024 fall Saturday Night Lights events hosted September 21-October 26.
