Mill Spring, NC - May 7, 2024 - Tryon Spring Dressage 2 was action-packed amid an already-packed showgrounds, bringing the spotlight to Dressage competition alongside Hunter/Jumper competitions and intercollegiate Equitation and Reining for IHSA Nationals. ‘S’ judges Beverly Rogers and Judy Downer were in the boxes from sunrise to sunset on Saturday and Sunday, judging classes of all levels from Introductory to FEI.
East Coast Riders Take Division High Points
Georgia-based professional Allie Zorn held the highest scores in the Fourth Level divisions throughout the weekend atop her 15 year-old mount Neptune NF (Educado XII x PRF Imperial Black Rex). The pair received a 66.875% in 4-3 and a 67.787% in their Fourth Level freestyle.
Local professional David Donnelly piloted Jane Fox’s gelding Atlas Fox Stable Fresians to the top placement in 2-1 with a 70.214%, which was a 3% improvement from their test on Saturday.
Adult Amateur Jessica McCaskill and her Oldenburg gelding, Freaky Like Me, took home the blue ribbon and division high point in the Prix St. Georges with a 65.662%. The ride yielded exceptional marks on both their first and final centerlines.

Adult Amateurs and Jr/YRs Compete for the Top Training Level 3 Spot
The largest division of the weekend, Training Level Three, held an even mix of Amateurs and Jr/Young Riders. Amanda Castellone and Skovlunds de Nice (De Noir 3 x Diamond), owned by Deborah Stanitski, trotted their way to the top of the podium by a 4.3% lead with a 67.900%. The pair also earned a 71.1% on the same test in Saturday’s USEF Test of Choice division.
Ally Evans held the highest YR spot in Training Level Three with a 55% atop Susan Faulkner’s gelding Fleaux Easy.
Seasoned Pair Takes on the Grand Prix
Patricia Borders and Oh Fiddledeedee, with a combined age of ninety-one, earned a 53.261% in Sunday’s Grand Prix. ‘Deedee’ is a saddlebred mare, a unique breed that is not so often seen in the upper levels of Dressage, and was bred and brought up by Borders herself. The pair’s highest marks were for their canter and halt entrance, and for a flying change at X.
