Mid-Year Update: USHJA International Hunter Derby Rider Bonus presented by Equiline

For Immediate Release

Grace Weil for Tryon International

Mill Spring, NC – July 20, 2024 – The USHJA International Hunter Derby Rider Bonus presented by Equiline offers riders participating in any of the five USHJA International Hunter Derby classes at Tryon International in 2024 the chance to accrue points throughout the season. The rider with the most points at the end of the circuit will be awarded an Equiline E5 Saddle, and the Runner Up receives an Equiline Scott Stewart Signature Bridle. Points will be earned by rider, not by horse. Three of the five classes have taken place throughout the Spring and Summer Series, and the remaining two opportunities to earn points will be held at the following competitions:

Tryon Fall 4

Tryon Fall 5

With 240 points, Liza Boyd (Camden, SC) holds the lead following her rides atop Ondine D’orleans, owned by Finally Farm INC, and Crooner Brimbelles Z, owned by Crooks Show Jumping LLC. Boyd and Crooner Brimbelles Z earned the top placing at Tryon Spring 6, and Boyd followed up her winning performance with second and sixth place finishes at Tryon Summer 4.

Fabian Herrera (Charlotte, NC) and his gelding Accelerator sit forty points behind Boyd, meaning that a successful derby round in the Fall Series could very well secure him the series win. Victoria Colvin (Loxahatchee, FL) and Megan Rosenthal (Charlotte, NC) hold third and fourth place with 160 and 150 points, respectively. With two opportunities left in the series, the leaderboard could see a switch-up by the circuit’s end.

The next USHJA International Hunter Derby presented by Equiline will be hosted during Tryon Fall 4 (October 9-13), followed by Tryon Fall 5 (October 16-20), where the series winner will be crowned.
