Beat the Heat with Tryon International!

Leyla Caynak for Tryon International

1. Stay Hydrated

We all know that drinking lots of liquids is important on hot summer days. No matter your preferences, you can take your pick! Tryon International has plenty of places to grab a refreshing beverage. The General Store, Silo Bar, and all of our on-site restaurants are great places to grab a juice, water, or your beverage of choice. There are also several vending machines throughout the show grounds for competitors’ convenience.

Plus, don’t forget to keep a water bottle with you as you explore the grounds!

2. Spend Time Indoors

Everyone’s two favorite summertime letters: A & C! Tryon International has a variety of locations where you can escape the heat! Grab a bite to eat or a cool drink from restaurants such as Legends Grille, Blue Ginger, Campagna, or Roger’s Diner at the hottest parts of the day or between activities. Take your time perusing the Tryon International Promenade – click here for the full list of shops, services and treats you can find there. For campers and RV goers, check out the RV Park Rec Center, located across from the getaway cabins near the flag entrance. Here you can find a fitness center, game room and common area, coin laundry, and guest showers.

Potentially the most exciting place you’ll find AC: All Tryon International bathrooms are climate controlled - no horse show porta potty blues here!

3. Catch Some Shade

Enjoy covered seating areas between Rings 1-4, at Legends Club overlooking Tryon Stadium or beneath the porches at the grass corners, in the International Arena stands, on the hammock swings at the Silo Bar, and more! These are all great places to watch competitions, kick your feet up, or even catch up on work and school assignments. There’s always somewhere to duck out of the sun.

4. Pick Your Adventure

In the saddle, but out of the sun? It can be done with Tryon Western Adventures! Our morning trail rides, Thursdays through Saturdays by reservation, offer the perfect opportunity to beat the heat while remaining active with wooded trails and water crossings.

Out of the saddle, you can find indoor pickle ball courts at Fitness Wide Open, with day passes and numerous membership and pass options available to the public.

At Cleghorn Golf & Sports Club you can take a relaxing dip or swim a few laps in the pool! Morning tee-times are also available for any golfers who want to enjoy the best that mountain golf has to offer. Don’t miss Wing Night at the clubhouse on Tuesday evenings, either!

5. Enjoy a Frozen Treat

The General Store is the perfect place to enjoy ice cream and smoothies available in many flavors. There’s something cold for every palate! Look out for rotating food truck vendors, too, such as the Kona Ice truck, which offers snow cones of all colors. Savor these brain freezes while they last!

6. Four-Legged Friends Get Warm Too!

Leashed pets are always welcome in outdoor spaces at Tryon International. The shaded areas throughout the venue are great for keeping your pet cool, and dog bowls with water are available around the main plaza and at most restaurants. Competitors are welcome to use the wash racks for ALL their four-legged friends, not just their horses! Although pets are not allowed inside of The General Store, make sure to pick up a pup cup for them.

Leashed pets are welcome to join you on dining patios for your meals, too, to keep them out of the sun.
