Sunday Service: Foothills Village Chapel

  • Tryon International 25 International Boulevard Mill Spring, NC, 28756 United States (map)

Join us in Cabin 2A for a brief 30-minute pause from your busy week for a non-denominational Sunday service.

The Foothills Village Chapel is always open for prayer and meditation, and hosts Friends of Bill, “Greener Pastures” meetings Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm.

For all of June, we welcome guest minister Philip Johnson! In addition to weekly Sunday 9:30am services in Cabin 2A, Philip will also be leading a 5pm Spanish service each week in June. Join us!

About Philip:
Who do you know who can prepare delicious Cream Scones in one hour and who once talked to a “wrong number” for over an hour? Who also appeared in a Salvadoran TV commercial for a cell phone company? Sound quirky? Unusual? Maybe a bit engaging? Philip Johnson (also known as Felipe), will be leading our Sunday morning worship time for four Sundays in June. Philip considers himself a TCK—a Third Culture Kid—having spent most of his childhood in Chile, the son of Baptist missionaries. He’s lived and worked in six states and five Latin American countries. For him, everywhere is home and nowhere is home. He says most everything you need to know about life and relationships can be found in the fundamental teachings of Jesus. Philip gets pleasure from the simple things in life.  He likes to look for shells on the beach on cold winter mornings, enjoys the ritual of daily afternoon tea with Peggy, his wife of forty-four years, and reads books that challenge his thinking and engage his imagination. He’s been known to play the piano alone in the dark when no one is around. His current favorite spice is smoked Spanish Paprika and he says even weeds have a beauty all their own. He’s immensely proud of his two grown sons, who he says gently stretch his thinking about culture, faith, media, and the future of society. Retirement for Philip has been a time of physical and spiritual renewal.
